Bellato
The Bellato Federation is a small folk of traders, craftsmen and inventors. The Bellato once went out into the galaxy to trade and grew into an empire — the Bellato Union — with colonies and mines across space. Accretia and Cora challenged that power and the Union fell. On its ruins two forces, the Bellato Council and Antium, built today's Federation, and they still compete for influence in it.
Society and way of life
- Freedom of choice. Everyone picks their own path and has the right to their own opinion. Society has aristocrats and citizens, yet citizens take a full part in the Federation's life.
- Faith under watch. The Bellato remember where religious wars led the Cora, so every cult answers to the Imperial Family and the Senate.
- Lineage through the mother. Children take their mother's family name and usually her craft — the old matriarchy still shows.
- Daily life. The Bellato eat anything, wear anything — they make and remake their clothes themselves — and build homes of rare materials right inside natural shelters.
Army
Everyone serves: the Federation has universal conscription from the days of the trade wars, plus volunteers. In battle the Bellato win not by strength but by mixing weapons and clever tactics.
MAU — huge combat machines the Bellato built out of envy for Accretia's steel bodies, without giving up their own. Only this race can pilot a MAU.
